Roofing is usually installed on a
metal or wood deck fastened to the roof structural system. Concealed
clips or screws fix the panels to the deck. It's recommended that a
30-lb. felt paper be used between the roof and deck.
CARE & HANDLING Care must be exercised during unloading, storing and installation of panels to avoid damage by bending, warping, twisting, scoring and corrosion. To avoid storage corrosion, stacks should be stored off the ground on skids-at an angle for drainage-and protected with a loose-fitting waterproof cover. Storage
Failure to follow these steps may result in wet storage stain and premature white rust, for which WHISTLER STEEL INDUSTRIES, INC. cannot be held responsible. Cutting |

| Insure that the structure is
square and true before beginning panel installation. If the structure is
not square, the panels will not properly seal at the side laps.
Green or damp lumber is not recommended. Moisture released from the damp lumber may damage the metal panels. Nails installed in green or damp lumber may back out. Remove any loose metal shavings left on the roof surface immediately to prevent corrosion. After installing roof, remove any debris such as leaves or dirt to prevent moisture from getting trapped on panels. Fastening- Screws- ROOFING Ventilation and Vapor barrier protection for controlled environment buildings. Allow an overhang of 2" at the eave to provide for a drip edge. Use inside closure at eave to prevent insect or bird infestation at openings. 14" ridge roll or ridge cap is recommended to prevent leakage. Seal off ridge and panel using outside closure strip. To provide positive water drainage and maximize performance, the recommended minimum slope for WhistlerŽ roof is 1.5m --otherwise, water collects to form ponds. Compatible accessories are important to ensure that a WhistlerŽ roof achieves maximum life. Fasteners and flashings should always be made from material designed to last as long as the Whistler roof. Incompatible or substandard accessories can lead to failure of one or more components. Insulation should not be exposed where it will be continually wet and in contact with the underside of roof panels Immediately after installation, make sure panels are swept clean to remove construction debris such as unused fasteners, metal filings, pop-rivet stems and pieces of flashing. The rusting of debris is often mistaken for roof corrosion. |
